Why Bowen?

Bowen is a dynamic, remedial body technique, which is very gentle and relaxing. It improves blood flow to the muscles and increases Lymphatic drainage, resulting in fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort.

Bowen, being activated through the fascia is safe to use on anyone, newborns to the elderly, with any condition from sports injuries to chronic or organic complaints. A treatment comprises of sequences of small, cross-fiber moves, each at a specific site on the body. There is no forceful manipulation, just a maneuvering of a muscle, tendon or ligament, via the fascia. Where other physical therapy modalities address the musculoskeletal structures of the body, Bowen Therapy works on connective tissue (fascia).

This means that old and difficult problems which have not responded to other modalities like massage therapy, physiotherapy and chiropractic, may respond well to Bowen Therapy. This effective modality brings substantial relief frequently after the first session, and generally, clients only need two or three treatments, usually one week apart.

Treatments can be done through light clothing when preferred, as no oils are used, though working on bare skin seems to bring the best results. Treatment sessions can last from 20 to 45 minutes.

Bowen produces an integrated body response and consequently improves joint mobility, posture, circulation, lymphatic and venous draining, assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins, clearance of dysfunctional debris, normalization of cellular physiology and tissue integrity.

Bowen therapy is a safe effective treatment for all members of the family including your companion animals.

What can it help?

Bowen Technique can be applied to any condition the body is able to manifest. This is not to say that every condition will respond in the same way. Advanced degenerative conditions often require a multifaceted approach, of which Bowen Therapy may be a significant part.
